Drawing of The Rose Arbor
The Rose Arbor

10ft soft copper tubing 1/2" type L (5/8" OD)

24 tees 1/2'

Use 1/2" rigid copper pipe
12 ea. 22" lengths for horizontals
24 ea. 11" lengths for verticals and feet
Total: 44ft = 5 each 10ft lengths.

1 finial large enough to accommodate four holes drilled 5/8th" each.

  1. Assemble the sides of the arbor. A square or wall will be helpful to getting right angles. Build one side square offset to the next.
  2. Punch all sides together to secure, be sure to tighten it as you go. One punch will suffice to assemble, but be sure and go back and double punch all fittings during final assembly.
  3. Cut the soft copper to 30" lengths making large semi circles. Then bend by twisting one end counter to the direction of the other. Do this slowly, spreading the bend or twist along the entire length. Adjust spires to match.
  4. Drill four 5/8th" holes in finial at a slight angle to accommodate the spires.
  5. Mount the spires to the top tees of the arbor. Adjust the curves so they meet at the finial. These should be secured with glue or adhesive.
  6. Spires may need to be soldered into place atop the arbor at the tees.

Approximate cost: $45.00
